アニメのことば

So I've watched アニメ for years and just now I've realized how many words I've learned from it. Today in class we learned about nationalities. わたしはアメリカ人です。でも、わたしもといいました。Other phrases I inherently know: ただいま、おかえり、and かげぶんしんのじゅつ。Of course, いただきます is another.

たこやき

たこやき is one of my favorite snacks. 日本人: advice for making the best ones?

はじめまして!

はじめまして。わたしはバビンです。日本ごがわかります! Unfortunately, I don't know much though. I am learning Japanese in order to be better able to order off of the menus at ramen places like Ippudo and Totto Ramen. Definitely Ippudo has the best かくに I've ever had and their broth is delicious. Totto's みそ paste is divine though. Needless to say, this blog may be a little food-centric (hence the name). In reality, I want to learn Japanese because my best friend speaks it and the science (oceanography) I study may take me to Japan regularly, such as Lake Biwa in July 2012. Also, I love manga and it would be nice to read the actual copies rather than the fan-subbed translations. I am a fourth-year graduate student in the Geosciences department (i.e. older than everyone else in class) but am excited to learn the language and get beyond the difficulties of remembering which actions い ~,きい ~, and み (てください) are. どうぞよろしく。
